Justin R. Durban

I’m a daydreamer who evolved from the beautiful dark green forests of Western Kentucky, USA. The unpredictable road of life has brought me to Austin, Texas where I reside with my beautiful wife and kids.

I like making movies and art. I like making music. I like making movie music. I hope you like it too.

My Personal Quote:
“If you know how to use a pencil to draw, you could probably draw anything.
Apply that to everything in life.”

This is one of my favorite stories on working with artists…

We, the Artist:
Picasso was sitting in a Paris café when an admirer approached and asked if he would do a quick sketch on a paper napkin. Picasso politely agreed, swiftly executed the work, and handed back the napkin — but not before asking for a rather significant amount of money. The admirer was shocked: “How can you ask for so much? It took you a minute to draw this!” “No”, Picasso replied, “It took me 40 years”

Justin R. Durban was born on December 7th, 1977 in Memphis Tennessee and was raised in the small town of Madisonville, Kentucky. He majored in Graphic Design and Art studio with a Theatre minor at the University of Kentucky.

Justin’s strong desire to work on anything involving films led him to pick up a keyboard, find some music software, and begin to write and score his own music for his own movie projects. He gained recognition by giving away his music to anyone that found a place for it within their films. This was accomplished through the online entity called, “Edgen” (pronounced: edge – in). This working partnership and “Pay it Forward” thinking with filmmakers lead to a growing body of work that has spanned and grown tremendously over the years.

Along with his talent for writing emotional music for film, he has a strong passion for the visual arts including Visual FX, Compositing, Editing, Web, Digital Art, & Graphic Design. His strongest passion, however; is his love for Directing. With a handful of films under his helm, he is well on his way to accomplishing his greatest Directorial and Artistic Accomplishment: A Fantasy/Sci-Fi/Adventure Trilogy: Kings and Kingdoms .

His music can best be described as “Upliftingly Dark” Cinematic Film Music with Epic Intimacy. He plays by ear but the music ultimately resonates through his heart.

He currently resides Austin, TX with his wife and kids, further pursuing his filmmaking and film scoring career.
